Granada Music & Arts Conservatory and Santa Barbara Strings students unite for concert to benefit victims of Haiti earthquake
Students of GMAC and Santa Barbara Strings present Hearts for Haiti: A Young Musicians Benefit Concert, Saturday, February 13, 7 p.m. at the Marjorie Luke Theatre. In connection with Direct Relief International, the concert will benefit victims of last month’s devastating earthquake in Haiti.
The performance will feature more than 50 outstanding young musicians from both Granada programs and will highlight music of Elgar, Brahms, Warlock, and Haydn, with guest conductor Basil Vendryes, principal violist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. The evening will include a special performance by the internationally acclaimed group of dancing fiddlers, Celtic Spring, recipient of the 2002 Grand Champion Award at the World Championships of Performing Arts.
